Despite the unfavourable conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Fatra is still looking for ways to help those around it. The greatest at-risk groups today include individuals with weakened immunity. As such, we have decided to help the Senior Citizens’ Home in Napajedla and The Palliative and Hospice Care Institute in Uherské Hradiště. Material assistance has been provided throughout the period of a lack of personal protective equipment in the form of coats and cover shoes, which were used as an emergency solution to protect staff at those facilities. FFP2 class respirators have also been sent to the healthcare facility in Uherské Hradiště.
The transformation of some production sections into sewing workshops has contributed to the production of other protective equipment, especially fabric face masks to protect the respiratory passages of not only our employees and their family members, but also of those around the company. Thousands of protective textile face masks have been sewn at Fatra since the beginning of the pandemic. Approximately half of them were created directly at Fatra, while the second half was created by volunteers. “Given that the current outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has challenged us all to help one another, we addressed everybody who was interested and able to help sew face masks for our employees, dining room employees and guards and for the town of Napajedla. Our challenge was also accepted by volunteers from within the ranks of our employees’ family members. “Such a great response to our challenge and willingness to help us has really delighted us and we thank everybody for their solidarity”, commented the Managing Director, Pavel Čechmánek.
The current burdensome situation has also prompted us to look at the current portfolio, which Fatra especially offers for the Medical segment. In addition to bed inserts and alternative uses for the coats, it was also necessary to focus on the possible production of outer coats. At the same time, prototypes of single-use outer coats made of breathable laminate or polyethylene film were also developed in an accelerated process. After completion of the development, these products can be used to further increase the protective standards within the framework of individual operations with increased hygiene requirements.
Fatra is still producing despite the unfavourable circumstances. This is not only thanks to the hygiene measures inside the company, but also to the determination of our employees to produce products which can help the most in the current situation. No matter whether this involves welded products made from PE or PVC film (bed inserts, raincoats), PVC cups and bowls with lids for food, floor coverings with an antibacterial cover, breathable laminates for operating face masks, PVC anti-draught strips or PVC foils for production of screens, Fatra always has something to offer for both short-term assistance or long-term cooperation.
