On Thursday, 25 June 2026, Fatra welcomed a distinguished guest – Mr John Nash Baťa, grandson of Jan Antonín Baťa. It was his first visit to the company whose founding in 1935 was closely connected with his grandfather.
Jan Antonín Baťa also played an important role in the development of Zlín. His initiatives contributed to the creation of landmarks such as the iconic Building No. 21, known as the Baťa Skyscraper, which was the tallest building in Europe at the time, as well as the Baťa Canal.
During his visit, Mr Nash spoke about the reasons behind his lifelong efforts to learn as much as possible about his grandfather. For the past 40 years, he has been collecting documents relating to his activities with the aim of shedding light on his legacy and restoring his reputation, which has not always been viewed positively in Czech history.
At Fatra, he attended a brief presentation about the company’s current developments and showed a keen interest in its product portfolio and ongoing activities. The visit also included a tour of the Napajedla site and several production facilities.
