The Fachpack International Trade Fair in Nuremburg is the largest exhibiting event of its kind in the world. Companies come from all over the world to make presentations associated with packing materials and their processing, use and recycling.
The watchword for this year’s trade fair, which took place after a year’s delay, was “sustainability”. Everything therefore involved recycling, biodegradable materials and the use of biotechnology in production and processing.
Fatra presented its portfolio of products in the BO PET and profiles segments. In addition to our standard products, we were also able to draw attention to our newly patterned coloured films, opaque (translucent) films or films with a special coating.
Even though we could not complain of a lack of interest at our stand, the organisers’ statistics suggested that visitor numbers were down by ca 30% and the number of exhibitors was even down by 50%. These figures were understandably mainly influenced by the non-participation of Asian exhibitors, but many companies from Europe were also missing.
This was an opportunity for Fatra to present itself after some time away and to meet its customers and business partners. We discussed the current situation in the market and its impact on the upcoming period. Companies throughout the entire EU are dealing with problems involving a lack of materials, aggravated transport conditions and increased prices for materials and energy.
However, we departed Fachpack 2021 with a feeling of slight optimism, because the majority of our meetings ended with confirmation of the existing cooperation with our partners. Our optimistic view of the future is also based on an important factor that many European companies view as critical, namely the skilled people in our operations and their know-how. We believe that this will enable us to ride out the difficult times and to subsequently return to the path of maximum development once they are over.
